Suwon is the capital of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. A city of over one million inhabitants, Suwon lies approximately
30 kilometers (20 miles) south of Seoul and is one of the most populous of Seoul's satellite cities.
It is traditionally known as "The City of Filial Piety".

Suwon has existed in various forms throughout Korea's history, growing from a small settlement in tribal times to a major
industrial and cultural city today.

Suwon is the only remaining walled city in South Korea due to the presence of Hwaseong Fortress.
This historic fortification, designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.
